About This Aircraft

The Hunting Percival Jet Provost was a British jet trainer aircraft that served the Royal Air Force for many years. This example, XM351, is a T.3 variant. The Jet Provost was one of the first ab-initio (from the beginning) jet trainers in the world, allowing student pilots to learn on a jet from their first flight. It featured a side-by-side seating arrangement for the student and instructor, which was considered ideal for training. Powered by a single Armstrong Siddeley Viper turbojet, the Jet Provost was a simple, rugged, and effective trainer that prepared thousands of pilots for front-line service. The design was later developed into the armed BAC Strikemaster light attack aircraft.
