About This Aircraft

The Hawker Hunter is widely regarded as one of the most elegant jet fighters ever built. This example, XG225, is an F.6A variant, which represented the pinnacle of the Hunter's evolution as a pure day fighter. Powered by an uprated Rolls-Royce Avon 203 turbojet, the F.6 had improved performance and was armed with four formidable 30mm ADEN cannons. The Hunter was renowned for its smooth handling and aesthetic lines, with its gracefully swept wings and single nose intake. This particular aircraft, XG225, served with several RAF squadrons, including the famed "Black Arrows" aerobatic team (No. 111 Squadron). The Hunter served the RAF for many years and was also a major export success, flying with numerous air forces around the world.
