About This Aircraft
The Hawker Hurricane was one of Britain's most important fighter aircraft of the Second World War. While the Spitfire is often celebrated, the rugged and reliable Hurricane shouldered the bulk of the fighting during the Battle of Britain. This example, LF738, is a later Mk IIc variant. The key feature of the Mk IIc was its powerful armament of four 20mm Hispano cannons, which replaced the earlier eight .303 machine guns, providing significantly enhanced firepower. Powered by an improved Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine, the Hurricane IIc was a formidable ground-attack aircraft and night fighter. LF738 is a genuine combat veteran, having flown with multiple squadrons during the war. It is now part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
