About This Aircraft

The Scottish Aviation Bulldog T.1 was the primary trainer for the Royal Air Force from the early 1970s, replacing the Chipmunk. This example is XX654. The Bulldog is a two/three-seat piston-engine aircraft, powered by a Lycoming IO-360 engine. It features a side-by-side seating arrangement and a large, clear sliding canopy, providing excellent visibility for the student and instructor. The Bulldog was fully aerobatic and was used to provide elementary flight training to thousands of RAF pilots, as well as pilots in the University Air Squadrons and Air Cadets. It was a rugged, reliable, and popular trainer that served the RAF for nearly 30 years before being replaced by the Grob Tutor.
